It’s that time of the year that people start thinking about what their New Year’s resolution might be. I on the other hand have always thought why wait until January 1st to start something new, especially a New Year’s Resolution.

What’s your body moving goal?

Yesterday, 11/30/19 I set my December Goals:  Solutions vs Resolutions!

I decided to exercise, work out 🏋️‍♂️, bike, walk, hike and/or swim everyday for at least one hour during the month of December. Upping my game! Moving hard for 60-minutes… Sometimes in life it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up.

This morning, 12/1/19  I did my official weigh-in (230.4#). I’m 30.4# over my ideal weight.

Many times I set my goals high to try and achieve them. Moving hard for 60-minutes a day for 31 days is my new solution plan.

12/1/19   Today was 30-minutes of working with weights, then a 1-mile walk , then I biked 1.5 miles which all ended up being a full 1:00 hour of moving. Then of course, a 15-minute soak in the 103 degrees whirlpool.

Staying FIT is HARD! If it was easy… EVERYONE would exercise to be fit.

This morning, 11.24.19 I woke up and had that feeling like I just ate a whole watermelon.

After chugging a glass of water like a beer, I went to make coffee and stepped on the scale as it was brewing and to my surprise I had lost 2.6#’s since Friday. Just as I realized that today (Sunday 11.24.19) was going too be a rest day from exercise. The experts say: Take 1 day off a week from exercising. I’ll be taking a hike somewhere today!

At 60 years young, I have spent the last 10 years of my life losing weight, running, bicycling, walking and trying to move everyday more than just doing things all day long. Actually, putting a plan in place on my calendar to exercise. Blocking out time on my schedule to get out of the house and do something.

Back in 2009, I weighed 310#. In 2010, I lost 135# and have been on a rollercoaster of weight gain and loss ever since. I know my ideal weight is being right at 200#. Today’s scale said, 227.6#! Argh!

I wouldn’t say Once Obese, Always Obese… because I did change my mind and mental state to make a decision to lose 100# all on my own. Once I got serious, it was fairly easy to lose weight.

IT’S TIME… TO GET SERIOUS AGAIN!  I need to lose 27# to get to my known ideal weight.

I have the daily exercising thing down to a science, now I need to start tracking my food.

A combination of exercising & eating right. My best success is eating 1,500 calories/day.

I recently started to hit the gym on a regular basis pretty much everyday. It’s a lot of alone time, which makes me think of many good things happening in my life and the lives of everyone else. Some people just can’t see all of those good things. I’m just happy to be alive when I see people complaining about things. As we all know, people will always find something to complain about. I myself could think of something to complain about, but what is the point. When I saw all the videos on Veterans Day about soldiers surviving battle, nothing else matters. If they can do what they did and come home, then we all can survive the many minuscule things in our own lives.

Everyday my goal is to learn something or about something that I never heard of. Most of the time I’m not out there looking for these things or trying to think of things I need to know about, they just happen to pop up throughout my days. Usually a sign of some kind crosses before my very eyes.

Many people want to pick my brain because for some reason they think I know everything! In reality, it’s not that I know everything… I just know everyone that knows everyone that knows everyone! I just try to live everyday like it’s my last. Trying to help everyone with anything they may want out of their own lives.

The way some people approach me and ask “How’ Retirement?” is one thing I could complain about because I’m not retired, but I just ask them, “Wanna swap a week?”, then you can see what #HalfRetirement is all about! I watch 4 grandchildren, 4 days a week and still find the time to workout, exercise, ride my bicycle, work with my clients to get them embroidered, screen printed apparel and imprinted promotional products. I tell people all the time we all have the #Same24HoursInADay

If exercising was easy, then everyone would do it. If you’re not happy with your day, CHANGE IT!  #LiveLife  #BeKindDaily

Recently my wife and I have been note sharing 5 things we are grateful for everyday!

She started it a couple of days ago and we add to the list periodically throughout each day. One day we had 10 things on our list. It’s as simple as… a hot shower, clean clothes, people visiting that we weren’t expecting, someone cooking a good steak, someone doing the dishes, no traffic on a road, a smiling grandchild, a singing grandchild, an unexpected hug.

The point is that everyone in this world should really just BE GRATEFUL for the small and meaningful things in their lives. Life is too short and it can change in the blink of an eye. 

Put them into your notes on your phone. Reflect and look at them during each day.

It’s a matter of not having to think of things to put on the list, it’s just things that come to your mind as things happen throughout each and every day of out lives.

2 perfect examples of #neverquit and #nevergiveup in life. Last night’s baseball game ended up 12-11 won by the visiting team who scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th! Those boys never gave up! I personally have fallen off of my food tracking for a few days only to weigh-in this morning and be down 1.4#’s and my lowest weight in 6-months! Winners never quit, quitters never win! Sometimes in life it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up. BE YOU! INSPIRE YOURSELF!

On April 16, 2019, I weighed myself and the scale said:  240#!!! My first thought was, why am I gaining my weight back on my body? I was discouraged and frustrated all at the same time. After, be bobbing around for a few months…  up, down, up, down and on July 11, 2019 I turned 60 years young! The very next day I started tracking my food intake using the MyFitnessPal app and limited my daily calorie intake to 1,500 calories daily. Amazingly, I started to like this new challenge in life. In the first month, I lost 11#.

My new goal in August was going to be… 8/1/19… New Month… New Goal… Attempting to bike 🚴 ride everyday for 31 days with the ultimate mileage goal of 310 miles for the month of August! #noexcuses Sometimes in life, it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up. #NeverQuit #NeverGiveUp

On 8/31/19… I biked a 1/2 marathon this afternoon to accomplish my goal of riding every day in August! 31 days = 411 miles on 2-wheels. Beat my goal by 111 miles. BE YOU! INSPIRE YOURSELF! What’s motivating you to keep moving? #ThisIs60 Sometimes in life, it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up.

On 2-27-19, my friend and golf partner passed away at the young age of 57! That made me think that life is way too short and it’s time to re-focus on life. It’s March 6th and this morning it was 7 degrees outside when I woke up. With a forecast of being on the high 40’s this weekend it’s time to re-focus on important things in my life.

In January 2019, I exercised everyday. In February, it was vacation time and I was just not into exercising. Now that March is here, it’s time to re-start my exercising on consistent basis.

Since coming back from 2 vacations,. I’ve lost 6#’s and am planning out my exercise schedule. At 59 years young, I can work out daily.

Exercising is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

My mottos are #ThereIsNoOffSeason – #TriathlonTraining – #IBikeOutiside365 – #100milebiketraining – #nevergiveup – #neverquit – #noexcuses

I’m preparing to begin riding my bike outside again…

As 2018 started to come to an end, I decided that in 2019 I was going to workout every day. As I started to remember what I accomplished in 2018 it was really fun to see where I began and where I was on 12.31.18.

On 10.20.18 at my YMCA and leg pressed 270#, dead lifted 250# and rowed 500m in 1:56.8.

I slowly increased my weights and times every other day. On 12.31.18 I leg pressed 560#, dead lifted 275# and rowed 500m in 1:53.1. These were great accomplishments for me.

At 59 years young, I said I can work out daily. Today, was Day 10. In 2019, I’ve done the 3 Dune Challenge on 1.1.19 to daily weights, swimming and biking outside. Today 1.1019 the outside felt like 6 degrees and I rode 6 miles.

Exercising daily is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it.
