Recently my wife and I have been note sharing 5 things we are grateful for everyday!

She started it a couple of days ago and we add to the list periodically throughout each day. One day we had 10 things on our list. It’s as simple as… a hot shower, clean clothes, people visiting that we weren’t expecting, someone cooking a good steak, someone doing the dishes, no traffic on a road, a smiling grandchild, a singing grandchild, an unexpected hug.

The point is that everyone in this world should really just BE GRATEFUL for the small and meaningful things in their lives. Life is too short and it can change in the blink of an eye.

Put them into your notes on your phone. Reflect and look at them during each day.

It’s a matter of not having to think of things to put on the list, it’s just things that come to your mind as things happen throughout each and every day of out lives.

2 perfect examples of #neverquit and #nevergiveup in life. Last night’s baseball game ended up 12-11 won by the visiting team who scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th! Those boys never gave up! I personally have fallen off of my food tracking for a few days only to weigh-in this morning and be down 1.4#’s and my lowest weight in 6-months! Winners never quit, quitters never win! Sometimes in life it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up. BE YOU! INSPIRE YOURSELF!

On April 16, 2019, I weighed myself and the scale said:  240#!!! My first thought was, why am I gaining my weight back on my body? I was discouraged and frustrated all at the same time. After, be bobbing around for a few months…  up, down, up, down and on July 11, 2019 I turned 60 years young! The very next day I started tracking my food intake using the MyFitnessPal app and limited my daily calorie intake to 1,500 calories daily. Amazingly, I started to like this new challenge in life. In the first month, I lost 11#.

My new goal in August was going to be… 8/1/19… New Month… New Goal… Attempting to bike 🚴 ride everyday for 31 days with the ultimate mileage goal of 310 miles for the month of August! #noexcuses Sometimes in life, it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up. #NeverQuit #NeverGiveUp

On 8/31/19… I biked a 1/2 marathon this afternoon to accomplish my goal of riding every day in August! 31 days = 411 miles on 2-wheels. Beat my goal by 111 miles. BE YOU! INSPIRE YOURSELF! What’s motivating you to keep moving? #ThisIs60 Sometimes in life, it seems easier to just quit; but be inspired not to give up.

On 2-27-19, my friend and golf partner passed away at the young age of 57! That made me think that life is way too short and it’s time to re-focus on life. It’s March 6th and this morning it was 7 degrees outside when I woke up. With a forecast of being on the high 40’s this weekend it’s time to re-focus on important things in my life.

In January 2019, I exercised everyday. In February, it was vacation time and I was just not into exercising. Now that March is here, it’s time to re-start my exercising on consistent basis.

Since coming back from 2 vacations,. I’ve lost 6#’s and am planning out my exercise schedule. At 59 years young, I can work out daily.

Exercising is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

My mottos are #ThereIsNoOffSeason – #TriathlonTraining – #IBikeOutiside365 – #100milebiketraining – #nevergiveup – #neverquit – #noexcuses

I’m preparing to begin riding my bike outside again…

If you ever need some motivation from talking to doing something, hit me up.

As 2018 started to come to an end, I decided that in 2019 I was going to workout every day. As I started to remember what I accomplished in 2018 it was really fun to see where I began and where I was on 12.31.18.

On 10.20.18 at my YMCA and leg pressed 270#, dead lifted 250# and rowed 500m in 1:56.8.

I slowly increased my weights and times every other day. On 12.31.18 I leg pressed 560#, dead lifted 275# and rowed 500m in 1:53.1. These were great accomplishments for me.

At 59 years young, I said I can work out daily. Today, was Day 10. In 2019, I’ve done the 3 Dune Challenge on 1.1.19 to daily weights, swimming and biking outside. Today 1.1019 the outside felt like 6 degrees and I rode 6 miles.

Exercising daily is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

My mottos are #NoDaysOffIn2019 – #ThereIsNoOffSeason – #TriathlonTraining – #IBikeOutiside365 – #100milebiketraining – #nevergiveup – #neverquit – #noexcuses

I’m preparing for an Indoor Triathlon on 2.10.19.

If you ever need some motivation from talking to doing something, hit me up.

8-years ago today 11.29.10, I was LIVE on the NBC Today Show in the Big Apple (New York City) with Joy Bauer, Kathie Lee Gifford & Hoda Kotb because I had lost over 💯#’s and she wanted me to tell my story to the world and induct me into the #JoyFitClub Thanks Joy! (watch using laptop or desktop)

Joy also featured me in her March 23, 2012 book Joy Fit Club: Cookbook, Diet Plan & Inspiration An inspirational book, with 30 stories of ordinary people who have all lost over 100#(+) naturally and are working hard to keep it off. Available at most books stores and Amazon.

I happily able to keep up with my 5 grandchildren (soon to be 6) and continue to be living life without taking any pills or potions. Even started weight lifting 🏋️‍♀️ recently to off-set my bike 🚴 riding days. #nevergiveup #neverquit #noexcuses

The three easiest words in the English vocabulary… Please. Thank you. You’re Welcome.

I’m always teaching my grandchildren to say these words. Please. Thank you. You’re Welcome. They may not know what they mean, but then again maybe they do. It’s just common courtesy to be nice to all people in general. “I want… I want… I want…” is the thing people say. If people just started out by saying “I want… Please.” Children say “I want a cookie” for example. Could I please have a cookie might get a better response. Yes, you may have a cookie since you asked so nicely. Once the cookie is given I always say: “what do you say?”… the response is usually “Thank you” which I reply, “You’re Welcome”. To those people saying “No problem” after “Thank you”, you are missing out on the last easiest word in the English vocabulary. It’s all about CHANGE. Change from “no problem” to “you’re welcome’. You will notice so many new behaviors from people that will make you smile.

I have a lady friend who probably weighs less than 100# dripping wet. She said to me about a week ago, I am so out of shape. Now one would think that if someone appears to be in good shape (skinny and looks good) that she claims to be out of shape.

Here is what she recently said to me: “I recently became interested in exercising to get fit and stay fit. I learned very quickly how out of shape I actually I am by the fact that a short jog to the bank from the office wore me out majorly”. I ran for 5 minutes and thought I was going to die. I said, well you didn’t die but you can start to do something to get into shape.

I saw her last Friday and she said, yes, I know that I should not be wearing tennis shoes to work “But, these are my sneakers” and I’m running to the bank today for lunch. Funny how people still call running shoes, “sneakers”.

Here is a woman who has 3 children in her home and is getting married in less than a year. She says she is out of shape. Well, she is now doing a new workout program that they call BURST and it takes LESS THAN 30 MINUTES of pretty simple exercises, but that are done in a way to get awesome results from simple exercises. Here first day, she was so sore and she could barely move. She could not even bend over to pick up the baby! But, she is doing it again tomorrow at 5:30 A.M.

She even takes her kids… Since it is at a park, the kids can play (if they are awake) if you cannot get a sitter (that is what I am doing with my kids). Yes, I am getting me and all three kids out the door, a quick workout, and back home by 6:15am! I am excited about how that will start my day!

I told her, the best time to workout is at 5 or 530am. It’s amazing how good it makes you feel to start your day with a workout. Your energy level will amaze yourself once you start some kind of a program. Way to go Barbara. I’m so glad that I was able to inspire you to get fit. Staying fit will happen as long as you keep it going. Congrats and keep it up. You can do it.

Today, as I look back on the last 7 years, I can’t even believe that I did it. I’ve lost 135# pounds as of this week. This picture taken in March 2010 reminds me that I was overweight and fat at 310#.

In August 2010, my wife bought the book “Your Inner Skinny,” and her and my oldest daughter started the plan. Two weeks later, they suggested that I start the plan as well. That’s when everything really began for me. I weighed 270 pounds then, and by November 1st, I had lost another 65 pounds. My total weight loss was at 105 pounds. I posted my success on Joy Bauer’s Facebook fan page, and soon after, she contacted me about applying to become a member of the Joy Fit Club, an exclusive club of members that have lost over 100 pounds. New Joy Fit Club members are inducted on the NBC Today Show in New York. Soon after filling out the questionnaire, my application was accepted, and I appeared on the NBC Today Show on November 29th.

I am just your average hometown guy that was overweight and knew I needed to do something about it. I decided to go for it (with some help from my family), and now I’m sharing my story with other people who want to lose weight but are afraid to take that first step. Trust me, it’s never too late to become healthy.

Please know that I am always here to help. I want other people to achieve the same type of success that I have. I did it, and I know you can too! This is my picture of Joy Bauer and me after I had lost 105# in New York City on November 29, 2010.
